Director, Field Reimbursement (Remote Strategic Leader)

As the Director, Field Reimbursement, you will provide strategic leadership for supporting patient access and reimbursement strategy across our U.S. Pharmaceutical Glaucoma and Dry Eye portfolio. Leading a geographically dispersed team of Field Access Managers, you will shape and execute scalable market access, patient access, and reimbursement strategies that help optimize access to therapy and drive business success. This is a remote U.S.-based role with approximately 50% domestic travel to support field engagement, customer interactions, cross-functional collaboration, and key business initiatives.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will partner closely with Commercial, Brand, Medical Affairs, Sales Leadership, and Commercial Operations to translate evolving payer policies, coverage dynamics, and reimbursement trends into actionable strategies that improve patient access and support organizational priorities. You will provide strategic oversight of reimbursement programs, guide cross-functional initiatives, and influence solutions across commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and specialty pharmacy environments.

A typical day, looks like:

Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Field Reimbursement programs across the U.S. Pharmaceutical Glaucoma and Dry Eye portfolio, supporting consistent execution of program KPIs and service-level agreements.
• Develop and execute comprehensive national reimbursement and patient access strategies aligned with commercial objectives, with a focus on addressing potential reimbursement obstacles and improving access to medications.
• Participate as a key member of the Market Access senior leadership team and travel as needed for team development, client engagements, internal leadership meetings, training, and market access initiatives.

People Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, coach, and develop six geographically dispersed Field Access Managers, partnering with training teams and vendors to strengthen field reimbursement capabilities and support organizational goals.
• Monitor territory effectiveness to optimize field productivity and recommend territory realignment opportunities to support business objectives and customer needs.

Market Access Strategy & Reimbursement Excellence

• Establish and maintain standardized operating procedures for reimbursement support services, including benefits verification, prior authorizations, and appeals.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on payer requirements and reimbursement processes, translating complex coverage dynamics into clear, actionable guidance for internal stakeholders and field teams.
• Develop strategic responses to payer policy and formulary changes to support consistent patient access across commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid insurance landscapes.

Payer & Healthcare Ecosystem Engagement

• Monitor market trends, payer landscape changes, and coverage policies to inform reimbursement strategy and enhance patient access.
• Strengthen coordination among field reimbursement teams, hub services, specialty pharmacies, national accounts, and strategic payer contacts to improve connectivity and provider understanding of coverage requirements.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Business Alignment

• Partner across Brand Management, Market Access, Sales Leadership, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, and Business Unit leadership to align field execution with brand strategy and commercial priorities.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
• 10 Years of Relevant Experience
• 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
• Travel: Up to 50%

Preferred

• Experience leading national Field Reimbursement, Market Access, or Patient Access organizations supporting multiple products, therapeutic areas, or business units.
• Experience supporting branded pharmaceutical products within highly competitive therapeutic markets.
• Knowledge of specialty pharmacy operations, patient support programs, reimbursement assistance services, and healthcare access solutions.
• Experience collaborating with payer organizations, specialty pharmacies, reimbursement support vendors, healthcare providers, and national accounts.
• Demonstrated success developing scalable reimbursement and patient access strategies that improve patient outcomes and organizational performance.
• Experience utilizing market intelligence, access analytics, and payer landscape insights to inform strategic decisions.
• Proven track record of building inclusive, high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Experience implementing talent development, succession planning, and organizational capability-building initiatives.
• Background in specialty therapeutics, biologics, rare disease, ophthalmology, immunology, oncology, or other complex reimbursement environments.
