Job Summary:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Mead Witter School of Music seeks an artist-teacher and performer of double bass and invites applications for the full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Classical Double Bass. The successful candidate will lead a well-established classical double bass program, teach lessons for undergraduates and graduate students, mentor and advise MM and DMA classical double bass students, conduct studio classes, and teach courses in repertoire and pedagogy. Additionally, we expect our new colleague to contribute to the modern transformation and/or new musics priorities in our strategic plan, in the areas of research and teaching. We anticipate the starting date of this position to be August 23, 2027. The successful candidate will maintain an active and visible professional profile; build professional relationships with local, regional, and national artistic institutions; actively recruit students for the School 's classical double bass program; cultivate a welcoming and healthy learning environment for students, faculty, and staff; and contribute to service activities in support of the string area, the Mead Witter School of Music, the College of Letters & Science, and the University.
