Postdoctoral Research Associate I, Department of Neurology

The Madhavan Lab in the Department of Neurology is seeking candidates for one full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate I position. The program is accepting applications from highly motivated candidates interested in working on a collaborative NIH-funded project with the Torsten Falk lab to study the therapeutic effects of novel drugs in PD rodent models and related aspects. The incumbent will possess the drive required to work independently, collaboratively, and publish findings. The postdoctoral candidate will benefit from training with two experienced mentors and the diverse, rich, and interdisciplinary research environment at the University of Arizona, which has a strong tradition in neuroscience and aging research.

• Lead a
  research project in close collaboration with the PI and other lab members.
• Innovate
  new areas of experimental inquiry.
• Advance
  technical aspects of experimental approaches and mechanistic understanding
  of biological problems.
• Mentor
  junior lab members and contribute to a productive scientific environment.
• Maintain
  detailed records and disseminate research findings in meetings and as
  manuscripts in scientific journals.
• Apply
  for independent funding and contribute to grant proposals submitted by the
  PI.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability
  to work independently on research projects within an area of
  specialization.
• Demonstrated
  aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including
  detailed data collection and analysis, ad a strong publication record.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Background in
  neurobiology, neurodegeneration and related experimentation.

• PhD
  or MD/PhD in neuroscience, molecular cellular biology, or related field.

• Experience in working with rodent models.
