Job Summary
Seeking an attorney admitted to the New York State Bar with strong experience evaluating, negotiating, and settling personal injury claims, particularly premises liability matters. The role focuses exclusively on settlement and alternative dispute resolution, with no hands-on litigation responsibilities. The successful candidate will quickly assess case facts, medical records, pleadings, and supporting documentation to determine exposure and settlement value and develop clear recommendations for resolution.

Job Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records, pleadings, and case documentation.
• Evaluate personal injury claims, including premises liability matters, to determine exposure and settlement value.
• Assess case facts and develop recommendations for appropriate settlement strategies.
• Draft Requests for Authority (RFA) and supporting documentation for settlement authority approvals.
• Prepare clear, concise settlement recommendations based on case facts, damages, liability, and exposure.
• Negotiate and settle personal injury claims with opposing counsel, claimants, and other relevant parties.
• Participate in private and court-connected mediations and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
• Support case strategy and settlement discussions while maintaining accurate and thorough documentation.
• Assist with property damage settlements as needed.
• Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate claims and obtain appropriate settlement authority.

Job Requirements

• Demonstrated experience negotiating and settling personal injury claims.
• Strong experience evaluating and resolving premises liability matters.
• New York State Bar admission required.
• Proven ability to evaluate claims exposure and settlement value.
• Experience conducting or participating in private and court-connected mediations.
• Strong settlement negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
• Excellent legal writing and analytical skills.
• Ability to quickly understand complex case facts and translate them into clear settlement recommendations and authority requests.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while independently managing assigned matters.
• Experience as an attorney or highly experienced claims suit adjuster may be considered.
• Proven track record of successfully evaluating and settling claims.
• Ability to provide 2-3 redacted writing samples for review.

Work Experience

• Experience handling personal injury claims, with particular emphasis on premises liability.
• Litigation experience is acceptable, provided the candidate has substantial settlement and dispute resolution experience.
• Alternative dispute resolution experience is highly relevant.
