Associate or Professor Tenured/Tenure Track - Open Rank

The Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences. This is a full-time, tenured or tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and academic accomplishments.

We seek an accomplished and dynamic scientist with a Ph.D. or a DDS, DMD, or equivalent dental degree together with a Ph.D., and an outstanding record of innovative research in craniofacial biology, translational research, or both, relevant to human health and disease. The successful candidate will have a sustained record of producing high-impact research, securing competitive external funding, and providing successful mentorship to students, trainees, and junior faculty. Previous administrative or academic leadership experience is desirable but not required; candidates should demonstrate the vision, interpersonal skills, and commitment necessary to lead a multidisciplinary academic department.
The Chair will provide strategic leadership for the department's research and educational missions; recruit and retain outstanding faculty, support the professional development and success of faculty, staff, students, and trainees; foster a collaborative and inclusive academic environment; and advance the department's national and international reputation. The Chair will also be expected to maintain an active and NIH-funded research program.

The Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry offers a highly collaborative research environment, with strengths in craniofacial, skeletal, and developmental biology; molecular and cellular biology; cancer biology; microbiology and immunology; stem cell and regenerative medicine; biomineralization and biomaterials; and clinical and translational research. In addition, the successful candidate will have opportunities to explore multidisciplinary research with leading scientists throughout the broader USC community.

The annual salary range for this position is $180,000 - $200,000/year.
