The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Nurse supports care coordination and clinic visits for pediatric patients with a variety of bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections. This includes challenging conditions like MRSA, osteomyelitis, fevers, bone marrow transplants and organ transplants, HIV, and tuberculosis. S/he works autonomously, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care. S/he uses a high level of clinical knowledge to fulfill patient needs, ensures efficient patient care, and provides patient education when necessary. The Clinic Nurse acts a patient advocate and as a liaison between insurers, inpatient/outpatient services, patients/families and all other necessary healthcare services to manage and facilitate efficient and timely coordination of care. The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Clinic Nurse is responsible for coordinating outpatient services and needs a panel of pediatric patients and providers in the ambulatory setting. His/her responsibilities include both in-clinic procedures, managing the outpatient infectious diseases clinic flow, as well as assisting with insurance authorization and prior medication authorizations, contacting home health companies, assuring DME and other home supplies are adequate, assisting with medication refill requests, patient teaching and assisting in the overall coordination of timely patient care. This position is 100% in-person onsite. Responsible for maintaining the knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of stated behaviors. Carries out legal responsibilities within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. Accountable to the NURSE SVC SUPV 2 for overall work performance. Required Qualifications:
