Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Lab Technologist (MT/MLS/MLT)

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for performance and reporting of clinical laboratory testing using a variety of automated, semi-automated and manual technologies. Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of test results, initial troubleshooting of problems, instrument maintenance and following safe laboratory practices.

Accountabilities/Duties:

• Collect lab specimens and evaluates their acceptability.
• Completes necessary laboratory documentation.
• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results.
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
• Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the laboratory general supervisor or director.
• Utilize technical background knowledge of laboratory medicine across all areas of the laboratory. These include Immunohematology, Chemistry, TDM, Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Phlebotomy.
• Observes all safety and compliance requirements.
• Other Duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

• Overnights shift
• 7 on 7 off

Required Qualifications:

We are open to filling this position with an Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medicial Lab Technician. Requirements for each are outlined below:

Medical Technologist:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field

• Current certification as Medical Technologist (MLT/MT/CLS/MLS) or equivalent by a national board of registry i.e ASCP, AM

  Medical Laboratory Scientist:

• Bachelor's of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist or related field.

• Current certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLT/MT/CLS/MLS) or equivalent by a national board of registry i.e ASCP, AMT.

  Medical Laboratory Technician:

• Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology

• American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification

  Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum one year hospital laboratory experience preferred.
