Infusion RN - Temp

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center (WVCI), one of Oregon's leading providers of cancer care, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Infusion team in Corvallis. In this role, you will provide direct patient care to individuals receiving infusion therapies in a fast-paced oncology setting. Successful candidates will have strong IV therapy skills, excellent clinical judgment, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care. Oncology experience is strongly preferred. The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $42.00 - $69.46 The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, internal equity, etc.

Employment Type: Full-time (0.9-1.0 FTE) 36-40 hours/week, this is a temporary position

Responsibilities

  • Administer chemotherapy, hydration, limited blood products, and other prescribed therapies under physician or APP supervision.
  • Assess patients before, during, and after treatment and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
  • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central venous access devices.
  • Review laboratory results and treatment plans to identify concerns and coordinate care with providers.
  • Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatments, medications, and infusion pump use.
  • Monitor and manage infusion-related reactions and symptoms.
  • Document assessments, treatments, patient education, and interventions accurately in the electronic medical record (iKnowMed).
  • Coordinate care and communicate pertinent patient information to physicians and the care team members.
  • Assist with medication refill requests and triage patient concerns as needed.
  • Support patient access to community resources and referrals when appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, safety, infection prevention, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Assist with coverage at satellite locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred.
  • Current Oregon RN license in good standing.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Minimum of three years of nursing experience preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.
  • Strong IV therapy, assessment, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires prolonged standing and sitting, frequent use of hands and fine motor skills, and ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds independently and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance or mechanical equipment.

Employees must be able to effectively communicate with patients and staff and work safely in an environment that may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, hazardous medications, and chemotherapeutic agents. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in an oncology clinic environment and may involve exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous substances, medical preparations, and ionizing radiation. Occasional travel between clinic locations may be required.
