OPEN-RANK TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION IN HEARING SCIENCE/AUDIOLOGY The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at the University of Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Hearing Science/Audiology at the rank of Assistant Professor. Exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor or Professor rank will also be considered. We welcome applicants from all areas of hearing science and audiology, with particular interest in candidates whose research focuses on cochlear implants, pediatric hearing science/audiology, and/or vestibular assessment and rehabilitation. CSD tenure-track faculty members actively collaborate with clinical faculty at the UI Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic, and researchers at the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, the Department of Neurosurgery, the College of Public Health, the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, and the Department of Computer Science. Additionally, there are many exciting and innovative programs available to CSD faculty, including the Development and Learning from Theory to Application (DeLTA) Center, the multidisciplinary Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD), the Iowa Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program, and the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Neuroscience. Long Established Cochlear Implant Research Program. Iowa has been a pioneer in cochlear implant (CI) research and clinical application. Our CI research has been generously funded by an NIH Program Grant for the past 40 years (P50 DC000242 "Iowa Cochlear Implant Clinical Research Center I - VIII"), to which the Iowa CSD has been a major contributor. This history has created an unparalleled infrastructure and resources. Examples of resources include a large registry of patient participants, professional research support from clinical audiologists, experimental equipment and facilities including CI electrophysiological measures, EEG, CT, MRI, PET, eye tracking and pupillometry, and collaborative opportunities with established CI researchers in otolaryngology, psychiatry, radiology, psychological and brain sciences, and computer science. This environment will provide an ideal nurturing environment for the rising stars of CI research. Outstanding Clinical Services and Education. The UI Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic is a full-service training clinic that provides a wide range of services to clients of all ages with a variety of communication differences and disorders. Clinical educators are experts in their area of practice and use best practices in service provision and training of clinical students. Exceptional Students. More than 48,000 square feet are dedicated to CSD, including 18,000 square feet of clinical space and 29 laboratories.
