The Talent Acquisition Partner - Veterans & Transitioning Service Members
builds and owns McLane's pipeline of transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses into driver, warehouse, and leadership roles nationwide. In this role, you'll be our face on military installations and with the transition programs service members trust - DoD SkillBridge, the Army Career Skills Program (CSP), Troops Into Transportation, and Hiring Our Heroes - turning military-honed discipline and technical skill (including CDL-qualified MOSs like 88M Motor Transport Operator) into McLane careers. What you'll do as a Talent Acquisition Partner - Veterans & Transitioning Service Members:
* Develop and execute a military recruitment strategy to meet driver, warehouse, and leadership talent needs across assigned installations and regions.
* Serve as McLane's primary point of contact for DoD SkillBridge, managing internship placement agreements, candidate matching, onboarding, and conversion to full-time roles.
* Build and maintain approved training and internship agreements with the Army Career Skills Program (ACSP) at priority installations.
* Cultivate the relationship with Troops Into Transportation and similar CDL-focused transition programs to source component and CDL-A qualified transitioning service members, including Motor Transport Operators (88M) and other transportation-related MOSs.
* Represent McLane at Hiring Our Heroes hiring events, career summits, corporate fellowships, and military spouse employment programs.
* Build and own relationships with installation Transition Assistance Program (TAP) offices, family readiness centers, education centers, and other on-base points of contact to keep McLane visible throughout the service member's transition timeline.
* Proactively source and maintain applicant pipelines using community and veteran service organizations, base events, job boards, and social media.
* Coordinate recruiting marketing efforts with hiring leaders and marketing teams, tailoring messaging to military audiences and MOS-to-civilian skill translation.
* Use recruiting tools and technology to enhance efficiency and candidate experience.
* Manage requisition creation and hiring in the applicant tracking system with hiring manager input.
* Ensure compliance with employment laws and military-hiring guidelines, including OFCCP, EEOC, and VEVRAA.
* Source, prescreen, and assess candidates through resume reviews and interviews (virtual, phone, and in-person), translating military experience and MOS codes into McLane role requirements for hiring managers.
* Communicate the company's value proposition, job responsibilities, compensation, benefits, and advancement opportunities to candidates and their families.
* Partner with hiring managers to assess candidate fit for behavioral and technical competencies.
* Keep hiring managers updated on candidate status, hiring progress, timelines, and challenges.
* Coordinate interview logistics and candidate engagement throughout the process, accounting for the compressed timelines of a military transition schedule.
* Track and report recruitment and program metrics weekly, including SkillBridge and ACSP placement and conversion rates.
* Pursue ongoing professional development to stay current on military transition programs, veteran-hiring best practices, and industry trends.
Qualifications you'll bring as a Talent Acquisition Partner - Veterans & Transitioning Service Members:
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
* At least 2 years of high-volume recruiting, ideally in warehouse, logistics, or driver hiring
* Familiarity with DoD SkillBridge, the Army Career Skills Program (ACSP), Troops Into Transportation, and Hiring Our Heroes
* Proven ability to build candidate pipelines via direct sourcing, networking, base relationships, and social media
* Ability to translate military occupational specialties (MOS) and experience into civilian role requirements for hiring managers
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for sharing complex or new information
* Friendly, effective communicator with hiring managers, candidates, military installation staff, and colleagues
* Ability to provide a world-class candidate experience
* Understanding of and ability to communicate business needs
* Knowledge of hiring-related legislation (Title VII, PDA, ADEA, ADA, GINA, IRCA, FCRA, OFCCP, VEVRAA)
* A willingness and ability to travel to military installations and field locations with overnight stay (25-50%)
* Preferred: Demonstrated experience recruiting, advising, or supporting transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses, with a strong understanding of military culture and military-to-civilian career transitions.
* Preferred: Experience recruiting distribution center teammates and CDL-A drivers, consulting with hiring managers, using HRIS and ATS software, running job fairs and base hiring events, and applying situational/behavioral interviewing
* Preferred: Workday experience

Office and field environment, including regular travel to military installations, transition offices, and hiring events.
