Description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Temporary Research Scholar. The position involves conducting research and development work and helping graduate students to conduct experiments on FRP composites materials and components and systems under bending, axial and shear forces.

What You'll Do

  • Conducting research and development work and helping graduate students to conduct experiments on FRP composites materials and components and systems under bending, axial and shear forces
  • Manufacture VARTM based samples for USACE project and helping to prepare reports for the agencies.
  • Work with graduate students to test housing panels made from geopolymer concrete consisting of fly ash.
  • Develop finite element models to simulate the test data from the above

Length of Assignment: Approximately 8 months
Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications
  • A related Ph.D. degree from a major US university with special focus on Polymer composite material, component design/development, manufacturing, lab and field testing and mathematical/numerical evaluation expertise.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
