Position Summary

Join the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria as a full-time academic neonatologist. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive neonatal care at OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois, a regional referral center with a 64-bed Level IV NICU. The position includes opportunities to teach medical students, pediatric residents, and neonatal-perinatal medicine fellows; participate in clinical research and quality improvement; and contribute to the continued growth of neonatal services throughout the region.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care for critically ill newborns and infants in a Level IV NICU.
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal resuscitation and stabilization.
  • Provide consultation and support for newborn and neonatal services within the affiliated regional network, as assigned.
  • Participate equitably in daytime clinical service, night and weekend call, and holiday coverage.
  • Collaborate with pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists, maternal-fetal medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Teach and supervise medical students, pediatric residents, neonatal-perinatal medicine fellows, and advanced practice providers.
  • Participate in clinical research, scholarly activity, patient-safety initiatives, and quality-improvement work.
  • Contribute to faculty meetings, committees, curriculum development, mentoring, and other academic responsibilities.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation and meet applicable quality, compliance, and productivity expectations.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in programmatic activities consistent with the needs of the department and institution.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO or equivalent medical degree
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency in pediatrics.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine acceptable for American Board of Pediatrics certification.
  • Board certification in Pediatrics is required.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Neonatology.
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Illinois.
  • Enthusiasm to provide clinical care and teaching in an academic setting.
  • Eligible for an appointment to the medical staff of affiliated clinical facilities.
  • Eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Illinois College of Medicine commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  • Faculty rank and tenure status will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, academic record, and experience
