Salary Range Starting At: $ 20.00-25.00 per hour

Job Description:

As the Temporary Case Manager you will provide support and resources to families and individuals in Lake County. The position provides emergency financial services, pantry assistance, Pathway of Hope case management, and strengths-based case management to ensure the mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

What You Will Do:



  • Schedule and conduct intake appointments for case management services.
  • Implement strengths-based and client-centered case management skills to identify client strengths, identify sufficiency goals and barriers to those goals, and implement strategies to achieve those goals.
  • Refer households to Pathway of Hope Program Model to support client strengths, barriers, and long-term goals.
  • Maintain a current list of referral sources throughout the county and surrounding counties to ensure that appropriate available resources are provided to clients as they work toward completing their sufficiency goals.
  • Complete and maintain required electronic and paper documentation for clients and resources in SIMS and other demographics and reporting by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and funders' standards.
  • Network with other social service providers throughout the specific county.
  • Represent The Salvation Army at public functions as requested and determined to be appropriate.
  • Compliance and practice of The Salvation Army National Social Services Standards.


  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership


Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: Minimum of an associate degree in Human or Social Services (or related field). Four years of work experience in social services in lieu of degree.

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in case management services: experience in homeowner and rental insurance processes preferred.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe from Harm training within the first 10 days of employment; Must complete Case Worker Certification Program within 15 days of employment; Must complete Service Point SIMS data entry and/or completion of data entry procedures within 15 days of employment. Must complete training with Charity Tracker within 20 days of employment.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to assist clients of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.


  • Provide guidance and promote the spiritual dimension of Salvation Army social services programs, emphasizing the importance of Christian influence and evangelism in all Salvation Army ministries, including delivery of social services in contemporary settings.

Physical Requirements Include:



  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity

Travel: Travel required within Lake and Porter county.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office and community center environment; May require some weekend and evening work.
