Mid-Level Video Editor

This is a 3-month, full-time (approximately 40 hours/week), remote contract role supporting Pacific Time working hours. Candidates must be consistently available from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. PT; Los Angeles-based talent is a plus due to possible future on-site expectations.

Summary

Our client is seeking a Mid-Level Video Editor to support a Global Social creative team. This role is for a strong editorial storyteller-not a trend-driven social editor-who can turn polished campaign footage, raw interviews, performance, and observational material into emotionally resonant short-form films.

The ideal candidate has refined visual taste and a strong reel spanning fashion, documentary, music, culture, premium brand, sports, outdoor, or editorial filmmaking. You will partner with creative leadership, art directors, copywriters, producers, cinematographers, and cross-functional teams to find compelling narratives within campaign, athlete, creator, and regional content. Your work will help shape a more artful, intentional editing language across the organization's evolving social presence.

Job Description

In this role, you will edit short-form social films and creative content across Global Social initiatives. You'll identify the strongest emotional, visual, and narrative moments across campaign, athlete, creator, and regional assets, then develop new editorial angles rather than simply shortening existing long-form work.

You will use pacing, performance, music, sound design, natural sound, and sequencing to create work with tension, humor, emotion, and momentum. You will also collaborate closely with creative and production partners, manage multiple projects, incorporate feedback, and help establish a more considered editorial approach for social content.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years of video editing, editorial filmmaking, content production, or related experience

  • A strong reel demonstrating narrative judgment, refined pacing, confident selects, and emotionally engaging short-form storytelling

  • Experience shaping interviews, unscripted dialogue, documentary, observational, or performance-based material into concise stories

  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, including music editing and sound editing

  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects is preferred, though this is primarily an editorial role rather than a motion-design role

  • Strong instincts for story structure, pacing, rhythm, performance, cinematography, sequencing, natural sound, silence, and visual atmosphere

  • Comfortable moving between high-production campaign footage and raw, self-captured, imperfect, or regional content

  • A restrained, intentional style that uses editing to serve the story rather than relying on speed, transition packages, effects, speed ramps, or trend-driven conventions

  • Background in fashion film, documentary, music, culture, independent production, premium sports/outdoor storytelling, design-led studios, or culturally relevant brands is highly relevant

  • Collaborative, self-directed, organized, flexible, and responsive to feedback in a fast-moving environment

  • Able to manage multiple priorities while consistently working 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. PT

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in film, media, communications, visual arts, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Background in video production, editorial filmmaking, documentary, fashion, music, culture, sports, outdoor, or premium brand storytelling

  • Portfolio demonstrating polished campaign content as well as documentary, interview, observational, unscripted, or self-captured work

  • Experience with premium brands, independent production companies, editorial platforms, or creative studios is preferred

Additional Requirements

  • This opportunity is remote and requires reliable availability during Pacific Time work hours, generally 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. PT

  • The engagement is expected to last 3 months, with potential quarterly extensions

  • There may be a possible full-time conversion opportunity in 2027; conversion is not guaranteed, and compensation would be evaluated separately from contractor rates

  • Los Angeles-based candidates are preferred due to potential future on-site expectations

  • The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $42-$52per hour

  • This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length-of-service and hours requirements
