Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Reporting to the CDD Medical Director, this position serves as a key leader and nursing co-manager for the UNM CDD's Medically Fragile RN Case Manager program, specifically leading the Albuquerque Metro area staff, providing clinical, operational and staff oversight for all aspects of this large, statewide Nursing Case Management program serving children and adults with medical fragility and developmental disabilities and their families to support their ability to access needed services and support in order to remain safely in their homes and home communities.

This role leads staff onboarding, and provides supervision, training and mentorship for the metro area Nurse Case Managers; oversees case assignments and coverage; supports fiscal and operational program aspects via monthly billing review and ensuring accurate and compliant documentation; attends budget meetings and works with the UNM CDD fiscal team to ensure program sustainability.

The Metro area Nurse Manager serves as a co-manager for the program along with the parallel Satellite Nurse Manager with whom they work collaboratively to ensure all program and staff needs are met. Specific duties for the Metro Nurse Manager include, assisting with in-person intakes in the metro area and oversight of the program's administrative team. This role also serves as a liaison with internal and external partners and collaborators, including MCO's, nursing agencies, state leaders, and internal stakeholders to ensure program quality and compliance; the incumbent also provides community education on the population served and the program for a variety of constituents and learners; teaches as part of the NM Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (NMLEND) program, representing the discipline of nursing.

This position is a largely in-office role with some opportunity for hybrid work. It requires use of a personal vehicle for local and state travel to provide and observe home/community-based Nurse Case Management services in the metro area, and occasional travel to other areas of the state, and to attend partner and client meetings often held outside the office.

Successful candidate will have:

*excellent writing and verbal communication skills

*3+ years' experience providing community-based nursing services directly for clients/families

*experience teaching or training nurses

*demonstrated capacity to lead, support and organize teams

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in Nursing or directly related field/discipline; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Certification/Licensure
State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

Experience with community presenting and teaching learners.

Experience overseeing fee-for-service billing/documentation processes for a community-based program.
