Press Department Team Leader

Wagner is looking for an experienced Press Department Team Leader to provide hands-on leadership within our manufacturing operation. This is a great opportunity for someone who knows the shop floor, enjoys helping others succeed, and is ready to take on greater responsibility.

This is not a desk-based leadership position. You'll work alongside the team, coordinate daily production priorities, help train and develop employees, troubleshoot production issues, and operate manufacturing equipment as needed.

• Lead and coordinate the daily activities of employees within the Press Department.
• Set daily production priorities and assign team members to help achieve production schedules.
• Train, cross-train, coach, and develop team members to strengthen department capabilities.
• Set up, program, and operate manufacturing equipment.
• Read and follow blueprints, work instructions, and production specifications.
• Inspect first-run and production parts to ensure they meet quality and customer requirements.
• Monitor equipment performance and coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance when needed.
• Support continuous improvement activities and track daily department metrics.
• Maintain an organized work area using 5S principles.
• Promote safe work practices and ensure team members follow established safety and quality procedures.
• Complete material and shop-floor transactions using applicable computer systems.

The formal Team Leader description specifically emphasizes daily production planning, employee development and cross-training, quality compliance, equipment setup and operation, first-piece inspection, and preventive maintenance.

We're looking for someone who brings a combination of manufacturing experience, technical ability, and leadership skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading, training, or directing others in a production setting.
• Experience setting up and operating manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and follow detailed work instructions.
• Strong basic shop math skills, including fractions.
• Ability to accurately use measuring equipment such as rulers, tape measures, height gauges, and micrometers.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn production software.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize work, and lead a team toward daily production goals.

The existing Team Leader description calls for the ability to measure accurately, identify materials, use computer systems, communicate across the organization, prioritize work, and lead a team with minimal supervision.

This is an active, hands-on manufacturing position. Team Leaders regularly stand and walk throughout the workday and must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 70 pounds occasionally. Work is performed in a shop environment where employees may be exposed to noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils.
