The Opportunity As a Senior Service Product Specialist, you will serve as the technical authority for air-insulated switchgear (AIS) and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) service products and solutions within an assigned region. You will support field operations, engineering, sales, and customers by providing advanced technical expertise throughout the equipment lifecycle, including maintenance, troubleshooting, modernization, training, and service development. You will help improve technical excellence, operational readiness, customer satisfaction, and the growth of the AIS and GIS service business. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office, with domestic travel of up to 50% to support customer meetings, site visits, field activities, training, and business needs. How You'll Make an Impact
Serve as the technical subject matter resource for AIS and GIS service products, systems, and applications. Provide advanced technical support to Field Service, Project Management, Operations, Supply Chain Management, and customers. Manage technical troubleshooting, root-cause investigations, failure investigations, and corrective actions for complex AIS and GIS service issues. Support regional field teams in planning and executing service projects, outages, upgrades, and emergency interventions. Support equipment lifecycle activities, including maintenance programs, modernization solutions, obsolescence management, and service offering development. Develop technical training materials, application guidance, and knowledge-sharing content for field execution, project management, tendering, and regional service sales. Support Sales and Tendering teams through technical expertise, scope validation, risk assessment, and solution recommendations. Collaborate across Operations, Supply Chain Management, Quality, Product Service Centers, factories, and engineering organizations to improve service delivery, reliability, safety, and execution efficiency. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Eight or more years of experience in high-voltage products, field service, engineering, product support, technical sales support, or technical customer support environments. Technical knowledge of AIS, GIS, circuit breakers, or related high-voltage substation equipment, with an understanding of electrical power systems, substations, and utility or industrial customer applications. Ability to investigate technical problems, support troubleshooting, recommend practical solutions, and read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, manuals, and test reports. Sound communication and presentation skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 50%; experience with SAP, Salesforce, Power BI, or similar business tools is preferred.
