The College of Computing was established in 1990 as the first such College at a public university and the second in the United States. Since that time, the college has grown into a world-class leader in research and education. The graduate CS program is currently ranked 6th nationally, and the undergraduate program is ranked 5th, by U.S. News and World Report. The College consists of five Schools that provide specialized and general computing education to the entire campus. With over 16-degree programs, including its world-renowned online MS in CS, we believe the College is the largest Computing unit in the United States and, as such, one of the largest producers of computationalists at all levels and across all demographic backgrounds. The College is a part of the Georgia Institute of Technology, a unit of the University System of Georgia, and is primarily located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia.

Job Summary

Set the vision and strategic direction for a matrix of career communities and academic major clusters, bringing together staff and directors across Development, faculty, administrators, students, employers, alumni, and parents to build and strengthen each community. Inform the decisions of the executive director and directors around career advising and employer development programming and strategy based on relationships formed and knowledge gained through the career communities. This position will interact on a regular basis with: unit leadership and management, faculty, employers, students, alumni, and parents.This position typically will advise and counsel: unit leadership and management, faculty, employment recruiters, and staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Assist in building relationships and communities with the colleges, employers, students, parents, and alumni, as well as to ensure connections across Career Education/Outreach, Employer Relations, and Pre-Graduate and Pre-Professional Advising.

Job Duty 2 -
Work with Corporate Development and with the school via the career communities to coordinate employer requests to connect them across campus for branding purposes, interactions with students and faculty, etc.

Job Duty 3 -
Contribute to the development and implementation of highly effective, integrated career and employment services in support of the mission and goals of the institute.

Job Duty 4 -
Provide data about employer trends, career readiness, and assist with school requests for Careerbuzz/Handshake information.

Job Duty 5 -
Expand and maintain the Employer Relations Network.

Job Duty 6 -
Interact with employers for general recruiting and targeted programming.

Job Duty 7 -
Contribute to the planning and execution of employer events.

Job Duty 8 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

Additional Responsibilities

Ensure consistency and stabilization of key career services functions across all academic programs within the Georgia Tech College of Computing.

Oversee common professional development initiatives across all programs and perform day-to-day operations for the CoC Career Services department's portfolio of 3 undergraduate academic programs, which serve more than 5000 students.

Responsible for student professional development including skill development around resumes, interviewing, networking, and job/internship search strategies.

Employer engagement is also a component of this role.

This position will interact on a regular basis with: Faculty, staff, and students.

This position typically will advise and counsel: Students.

This position will supervise: Assigned student staff.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Psychology, Counseling, Higher Education, Human Resources or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Five to seven years of job related experience

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in Business, Psychology, Counseling, Higher Education, Human Resources or related field

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building relationships with tech employers, recruiters, and alumni to support internship and job opportunities.
  • Understanding of internship and early career recruiting timelines for major tech companies.
  • Experience using employment outcomes, internship data, and labor market insights to inform advising and programming.
  • Experience developing workshops, career courses, or programs tailored to students pursuing tech careers.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach students through career exploration, decision-making, and professional identity development.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, advisors, and industry partners to align career preparation with academic programs.

SKILLS
This job requires previous experience in a university career services, experiential education/cooperative education programs, human resources, or business development; advanced skills in program management and administration; excellent leadership, organizational, communication, strategic planning, marketing/promotion skills, customer service and relationship building; knowledge of office related computer applications.
