GENERAL SUMMARY:

Compiles, prepares and reconciles billing data, associated with outside customers and/or employees per predetermined deadlines. Follows up as needed with customers to ensure complete and accurate financial records. Assists in the cash reconciliation process for Bryan Health. Prepares accurate and concise journal entries on a monthly or as needed basis. Maintains accurate filing system of all documented supportive actions taken.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:




  1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.






  1. *Compiles, prepares and reconciles billing data for external customers and employees; performs collection communications when needed.






  1. *Prepares accurate monthly journal entries by predetermined deadline.






  1. *Completes assigned reconciliations and delivers to appropriate personnel for review.






  1. Maintains accurate MHC Imaging system for all accounts receivable documentation.






  1. Prepares/generates appropriate and accurate reports for distribution to customers monthly or quarterly.






  1. *Bills non-patient charges in a timely manner to maintain accurate documentation in support of the account balance in the general ledger and meet hospital obligations.






  1. Determines application of sales tax laws to the various bills received.






  1. *Clears accounts payable, payroll checks, and electronic payment transfers (EPTs).






  1. Receives and correctly applies cash to accounts receivable.






  1. Enters appropriate information in the non-patient billing system to support amounts billed and to generate invoices and customer statements.






  1. *Maintains corporate credit cards; including issuance and compliance.






  1. Reviews and monitors assigned customer accounts related to payments.






  1. Provides customers, vendors and hospital personnel with detailed assistance related to billing.






  1. Assists in audits involving non-patient accounts receivable and cash.






  1. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.






  1. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.






  1. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:




  1. Knowledge of general bookkeeping processes and procedures.






  1. Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements associated with hospital accounting practices.






  1. Knowledge of state tax laws and regulations regarding the imposition and collection of sales tax.






  1. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.






  1. Ability to plan and organize work to optimize effectiveness and meet predetermined deadlines.






  1. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.






  1. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.






  1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.






  1. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.






  1. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

  1. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.





EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree in Business, Accounting or related field of study required. Will consider equivalent education and or directly related work experience in lieu of an associate's degree providing that it is obtained within 24 months from the date of hire into the role. Minimum of two (2) years accounting related experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)

(DOT) - Characterized as sedentary work requiring exertion up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
