Description

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides functional subsystem engineering expertise in support of an advanced threat modeling and simulation program. The SME advises the engineering and software development team on the technical characteristics, employment, and simulated performance of aircraft functional subsystems, supporting the integration, verification, and validation of threat models into a simulation environment.

This position is contingent upon contract award, and employment will begin upon successful award and authorization to proceed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide functional subject matter expertise on the technical characteristics, employment, and simulated performance of one or more aircraft functional subsystems (e.g., Airframe, Fire Control System, Radar, Electronic Attack, Infrared Search & Track, Radar Warning Receiver, Countermeasure Dispense System, Gun, Missile Approach Warning System, IFF, Jammer, Datalink, Navigation, Electronic Warfare Suite Controller, and Weapons).

  • Support engineering and software development staff in the integration and or testing of updated and new aircraft subsystem models.

  • Assist in evaluating candidate surrogate models when platform-specific models are unavailable, and advise the engineering team on the surrogate's suitability based on functional and interface fidelity to the actual subsystem.

  • Support unit, system, and use-case level Verification & Validation (V&V) testing of integrated threat models by reviewing test results for subject-matter accuracy against real-world subsystem performance and government-provided data.

  • Participate in Program Deficiency Review Board (DRB), providing subject-matter insight on reported deficiencies related to functional subsystem behavior and coordinating resolution timelines.

  • Support technical reviews, sprint/increment demonstrations, and Government briefings by validating that simulated subsystem performance and employment reflect real-world operational characteristics.

  • Provide input during Increment Backlog Grooming and Increment Kickoff meetings on subject-matter considerations affecting subsystem model development, testing, and task prioritization.

  • Support software research and development efforts to meet emerging user requirements by decomposing operational/functional requirements into subject-matter guidance for the software development team.
