ABOUT THE ROLE

The Yard & Shipping Manager oversees all yard operations, dispatch, and driver coordination for both plants to ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials to job sites. This role is responsible for scheduling, compliance, and logistics planning, including load sequencing, routing, and regulatory requirements. The Manager leads yard supervisors, Yard Personnel and drivers while ensuring efficiency, safety, and accountability across all shipping operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Oversee dispatch operations and coordinate delivery schedules with Field Service teams
  • Coordinate and manage the yard layout to support safe, efficient movement of trailers, equipment, and precast products while maximizing available storage space and minimizing unnecessary product handling.
  • Review and manage load lists based on delivery sequence and product weights
  • Plan routes, calculate load weights, and ensure proper blocking and transport setup
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, permits, and licensing requirements
  • Manage fuel tracking, mileage reporting (IFTA), and state reimbursements
  • Manage Trailer Inventory to ensure assets are available and accounted for
  • Schedule maintenance and coordinate with shop mechanics
  • Manage Department Supervisors
  • Supervise and schedule yard staff and truck drivers based on workload
  • Approve timecards and manage vacation scheduling for team members
  • Negotiate haul rates with new vendors and award projects
  • Review upcoming Loads to determine Status prior to shipping
  • Coordinate with Patch & Finish team on product readiness for shipment
  • Coordinate delivery of materials for both Field and Plant.
  • Maintain clear communication across teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Any other duties as assigned


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with strong experience in logistics, dispatch, storage, and transportation compliance. They excel at coordinating complex schedules, managing teams, and ensuring shipments are accurate and on time. This individual is proactive, organized, and confident in making decisions that keep operations running efficiently.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE



  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of yard management experience, preferably in a construction, manufacturing, transportation, or heavy industrial environment
  • 5+ years of experience managing transportation operations and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams of 40+ employees
  • Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and internal teams
  • Understanding of field erection processes, jobsite logistics, and material delivery requirements
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze fuel logs, mileage reports, and transportation records
  • Knowledge of prorate licensing, permitting, and multi-state transportation requirements
  • Experience managing a precast concrete yard is preferred


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
