Requisition Summary
Peterbilt Motors Company is seeking an innovative and self-driven engineer to define, evaluate, prototype, and integrate next-generation vehicle technologies.
This role focuses on advanced vehicle systems including ADAS, driver monitoring, infotainment, digital displays, telematics, vehicle connectivity, antennas, and software-defined vehicle technologies. The successful candidate will evaluate emerging technologies, develop proof-of-concept solutionsusing Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP), define system requirements, and support integration into future Peterbilt products.
The position offers the opportunity to shape future product strategy while collaborating with Peterbilt, Kenworth, DAF, PACCAR Embedded Engineering, PACCAR Technical Center, Global Connected Services, Information Technology Division, and strategic technology suppliers.

Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate emerging technologies, perform technologyassessmentsand trade studies, and define future vehicle capabilities related to ADAS, connectivity, telematics, digital displays, infotainment, and software-defined vehicles.
- Develop prototypes, proof-of-concept systems, and Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) implementations to assess technical feasibility, system performance, customer value, and vehicle integration impacts in laboratory and vehicle environments.
- Apply systems engineering principles to define system architectures, mature technologies, identify risks, and support integration and validation of advanced vehicle technologies for future product development and product roadmaps.
- Author technical specifications, functional descriptions, feature requirements, interface definitions, and preliminary development budgets.
- Serve as a technical resource in LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/GNSS, telematics, and antenna technologies.
- Define and evaluate ADAS vision systems, driver monitoring, HMI/UX, and digital cockpit technologies through prototyping, vehicle integration, usability studies, and user acceptance testing. Collaborate with Product Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, ITD, suppliers, and customers to integratenew technologies.
- Present technical recommendations, technology roadmaps, and feasibility studies to engineering leadership.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, competitive technologies, and emerging vehicle innovations.
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience in product development, systems engineering, vehicle integration, or advanced technology development.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines and organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial vehicle experienceincludingJ1939, CAN, telematics, vehicle networking, and electronic systems.
- Experience with connected vehicle technologies, cloud-connected systems, IoT platforms, or OTA updates.
- Knowledge of ADAS, driver monitoring, camera systems, sensor integration, and digital displays.
- Experience with HMI, UX, Human Factors, infotainment, or digital cockpit technologies.
- Familiarity with Android, embedded software, Linux-based platforms, or software-defined vehicle architectures.
- Understanding of wireless technologies including LTE/5G, GPS/GNSS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and antennas.
- Experience developing technical specifications, requirements, system architectures, or feature definitions.
- Strong proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and technical presentations. Self-starterwith a passion for innovation, emerging technology, and continuous improvement.
