Job Summary

The Nolan and Cao Groups at Caltech BBE Division are seeking a temporary research technician to assist the study of plant- and insect-parasitic nematodes and their associated microbial consortia. We aim to develop maintenance protocols such as cryopreservation, mass production, and development of CRISR-Cas9, RNAi, and synthetic biology tools in nematode and bacterial partners.

Essential Job Duties
  • Manage and prepare solutions and reagents for plant- and insect-parasitic nematodes.
  • Maintenance of parasitic nematodes and their associated microbes, sample preparation, record-keeping, imaging analysis, and interpretation of results. '
  • Assist the PI in managing lab purchases and organization.
  • Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment by following proper safety protocols.
Basic Qualifications
  • Prior laboratory experience working with microbial symbiosis.
  • Experience in molecular tool development in non-traditional and emerging model systems.
  • Hands-on experiences working with plant- or insect-parasitic nematodes.
  • A good track record of managing wet-lab responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Hiring Range

$19.00 - $25.75 Per Hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
