Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Transportation Analyst provides highlevel data analytic support and project management to a broad scope of areas for the Transportation and Fleet Services department including but not limited to Business Resource Management, Physical Resources, Vendor and Financial Management, and Asset Management. The incumbent provides management and strategic support to Fleet and transportation services within the PATS department. Responsible for providing strategic and analytical support, making recommendations on fleet business processes to prevent, mitigate, and respond to customer issues. Develops and implements internal operational policies, procedures, guidelines, and controls. Interprets and applies university regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to fleet metrics including vehicle utilization, life cycle cost effectiveness, replacement planning, sustainability, grant administration, and special projects. Performs in a lead capacity for Fleet Services operations in the absence of the Fleet Services Supervisor, ensuring continuity of operations, staff coordination and issue resolution. Develops business cases for a wide range of Fleet initiatives to support department leadership and provides recommendations to apply across the Health Campus. Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required/available data elements and optimizes enterprise business intelligence tools. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree business administration, economics, statistics, educational administration, political science, or an allied field or equivalent experience/training.
  • Several years of experience in administrative analysis, operations research, business management, or a related field.
  • Experience developing and monitoring complex budgets, establishing internal controls, conducting financial analysis and forecasting, and supporting strategic planning.
  • Experience applying accounting principles and practices, including enterprise or internal service fund accounting.
  • Experience analyzing workflows, evaluating business processes, and developing recommendations to improve operational efficiency and best practices.
  • Experience using fleet management or similar database systems to retrieve, analyze, and interpret data and develop comprehensive reports and dashboards.
  • Independent judgment skills to determine the type of quantitative data needed for analyses and to develop recommendations based on the analysis.
  • Strong writing and communication skills to prepare and present documents, reports, proposals for management and correspondence with various internal/external constituencies.
  • Administrative and analytical expertise to support Fleet Management business and financial decisions for sustainability planning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with individuals of varying backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, email, calendaring, and other standard business software and office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in Fleet Management from NAFA or APWA.
  • Experience in Fleet Administration, Facilities Management, and Automotive or Transportation industry.
  • Experience interpreting, applying and communicating campus accounting policy and procedures to provide advice for management and exchange information.
  • Experience with University systems (M5, Tririga, Kuali, MyAggie)
  • Experience working with all areas of fleet services.
  • Knowledge of Fleet Management Information Systems and /or experience managing a fleet of 100 or more light or heavy vehicles.
  • Organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks, meeting multiple deadlines with frequent interruptions.
  • Skill to work independently and as part of a team to support management for decision-making and long range planning.
  • Knowledge of fleet maintenance and repair best practices, equipment types, functions, and procedures to ensure long asset life.
  • Knowledge of automotive and heavy equipment vehicles and equipment, their sub-assemblies, and general maintenance and repair techniques, tools and parts. Specifications development for new vehicles and equipment.

UC Davis Health Fleet Services is a component of the Parking, Transportation and Fleet Services department, which is responsible for managing University resources, and oversees all University owned and rented vehicles. The unit is responsible for vehicle lifecycle management, vendor management and rental operations. The department is a collaborative resource for Sustainable Transportation and People Movement.
