Job Summary
The Associate Director, Marketing & Social Media at the College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS) is an essential position for building the CEAS brand, supporting student recruitment, promoting research and innovation, and reaching key audiences across industry, academia, and government. This role is responsible for developing and implementing modern integrated marketing communications plans and will lead efforts around paid marketing, social media, and content strategy. Success will come through positive collaboration and working cross-functionally with the entire CEAS Marketing & Communications (Marcom) team. This position consults regularly with stakeholders at the college, department, and program levels to execute campaigns and report on results. Regular collaboration with the university's Office of Strategic Relations and Communications, the Research & Innovation Office, the Leeds School of Business and the College of Arts & Sciences will be important. The ideal candidate will bring a strong marketing acumen, a digital-first orientation, experience with the creative process, and excellent interpersonal skills. This position reports to the Senior Director for Marketing & Communications, has two direct reports, and is a member of the CEAS Marcom leadership team.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Strategic Marketing & Brand Management:
- Participate in the development and execution of marketing and communications plans on behalf of the college, departments, and major programs.
- Coordinate with the Sr. Director to ensure marketing efforts are aligned with college priorities and CU's Integrated Marketing & Communications (IMC) Plan.
- Collaborate with unit communicators, who serve as unit liaisons and Marcom plan stewards, to execute strategies and report on results.
- Serve as the primary point of contact, where needed, for academic or administrative units needing marketing support.
- Contribute to and leverage messaging frameworks that deliver consistent brand positioning and voice across paid, owned, and earned channels.
- Leverage research and analytics-including primary research, secondary research, web analytics, Slate CRM data, social media metrics, and more-to evaluate marketing effectiveness and develop performance reports for units.
Advertising:
- Engage with external agency and internal stakeholders to plan and execute paid advertising campaigns aimed at prospective graduate students.
- Regularly attend agency meetings and partner with Sr. Director and participating units on optimizations.
- Leverage Slate CRM reports, and agency-provided dashboard, to evaluate campaign performance and provide strategic consultation to program leaders.
- Lead ASEE First Bell newsletter paid advertising including setting and executing an annual plan that builds the college's reputation and boosts rankings.
- Author creative briefs and collaborate with the CEAS creative director to develop campaign assets.
Digital Marketing:
- Lead expansive digital marketing opportunities including website strategy, SEO/AEO, email marketing, paid advertising, and social media.
- Engage with the Graduate School and other campus experts to configure Slate reports for campaign analysis.
- Collaborate with CEAS Graduate Education, Enrollment Management, Undergraduate Admissions, and the CU Graduate School on prospective student recruitment, lead nurturing, and email marketing campaigns through Slate CRM.
- Analyze website and campaign performance using analytics tools and recommend improvements.
- Develop and optimize landing pages and digital content to improve engagement and conversions.
Social Media:
- Develop and implement social media strategies that support college positioning and facilitate reputation, recruitment and retention efforts.
- Leverage direct reports to create, schedule, and publish content across all CEAS social platforms.
- Develop best practice guides and provide training to faculty and units.
- Coordinate graphic design, video production, and photography assets with the CEAS Creative team.
- Collaborate with colleagues at CU Strategic Relations & Communications to grow followers and boost the reach and impact of content developed by both parties.
- Monitor online sentiment and incorporate CU social listening data into daily work.
- Establish and manage a comprehensive social media analytics and reporting program, including ongoing KPI monitoring, audience and content performance analysis, annual reporting, and recommendations that support college marketing, reputation, recruitment, and retention goals.
- Manage student workers who assist with post development.
Supervisory & Other:
- Manage a Marketing Content Strategist responsible for developing and executing an integrated content strategy that extends the reach and impact of the CEAS brand.
- Manage and mentor a Marketing Operations & Project Manager who drives large project execution and technology adoption within CEAS Marcom.
- Participate in weekly Marcom leadership and full team meetings; lead meetings when asked.
- Pursue professional development opportunities to stay on top of current marketing trends and best practices.
What We Can Offer
Starting salary range is $95,000 - $100,000. Relocation assistance is available within CEAS guidelines.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, journalism, or a relevant field.
- Three (3) or more years of increasingly responsible strategic marketing and communications experience; preferably gained at a marketing company or advertising agency.
- Three (3) or more years of proven experience as a strategic planner, copywriter, content writer, or related role, with a strong portfolio of writing samples including digital, print, and social media content.
- Demonstrated experience managing people including setting goals, supervising their work, and conducting performance reviews.
What You Will Need
- Sound understanding of current best practices in marketing, and especially digital and social marketing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and communications strategy and successful execution of marketing and communications campaigns.
- Knowledge of the creative process and experience working side-by-side with graphic designers, web developers and other Marcom disciplines.
- Experience developing, executing and measuring marketing strategies and campaigns with positive impact.
- Demonstrated experience in professional-level advertising and marketing copywriting.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration and persuasive communications skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and college stakeholders.
- Independent problem solver that is willing to speak up, communicate clearly, and engage with others to resolve issues creatively.
- Ability to manage and analyze data; present numerical data effectively.
- Accountable for meeting goals and objectives with minimal direction.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills; familiarity with AP Style.
- Good comfort level understanding and working with technical information.
- Knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Reddit, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Ability to work respectfully in a vibrant and diverse workplace.
- Robust organizational, prioritization and time-management skills.
- Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities simultaneously to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable with project management software such as Asana.
- Ability to work from an on-campus office as well as remotely.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Master's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, journalism, or a relevant field.
- 5-10 years of professional experience in marketing and communications roles; preferably at a marketing company or advertising agency.
- Demonstrated supervisory or management experience.
- Two (2) or more years of experience working with a customer relations management (CRM) system.
- Experience working with a broad spectrum of media including print, digital, social, web, and other technologies.
- Comfortable using software including Sprout Social, Semrush, Google Analytics, and Tableau.
- Experience with A/B testing and data-driven decision-making.
