Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Biostatistician for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the supervision of the Director, Biostatistician provides biostatistical and data management support for research projects. Biostatistician will be responsible for data analysis and visualization for scientific publications and grant proposals, the development and maintenance of data management protocols for research studies, and related research tasks.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Performs statistical consultation and data analysis and interprets results under the supervision of the Director to support epidemiological research on alcohol and drug use disorders and related conditions.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains data management protocols in the R and SAS computing environments (and other statistical software depending on project needs) to clean, manage, and merge multimodal data for the design and analysis of longitudinal, genetically informative studies.
  • Assists with the preparation of data documentation and data archiving, consistent with requirements of funders.
  • Participates in the design of electronic data capture forms to collect data.
  • Participates in the validation and assurance of the data quality process.
  • Participates in the application of appropriate statistical methodology in designing studies and analyzing data.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or a related field, plus three (3) years of relevant experience involving the design and analysis of epidemiological data in academia, government, or industry setting. Or, a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics or a related field.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expertise in R and experience analyzing New Jersey Integrated Population Health (iPHD) data necessary.
  • Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
