Job Posting Title: Research Engineering/ Scientist Associate, I, II, III - Cell Culture Research Scientist and Lab Manager---- Hiring Department: Molecular Biosciences---- Position Open To: All Applicants---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40---- FLSA Status: Exempt from FLSA---- Earliest Start Date: Immediately---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Sep 03, 2027---- Location: AUSTIN, TX---- Job Details: Purpose The Savinov lab at UT Austin (https://www.savinovlab.com/) is pursuing multiple projects centered around discovering and designing protein fragments as universal regulators of protein interactions in health and disease - including in the contexts of antibiotic resistance, cell migration, neurodegeneration, and cancer. The lab seeks a highly motivated, curious, and organized individual to join the team and contribute to multiple research projects, working both individually and as part of a group. The candidate will set up and perform human tissue culture and molecular biology experiments, and also be involved in training new lab members in these techniques. The candidate will additionally contribute to laboratory management and organization including in the regular ordering of lab supplies and setup of lab equipment. The candidate will have a working knowledge of mammalian tissue culture and molecular biology. The ideal candidate will additionally have previous experience with protein purification and biochemistry, but this is not required. ALL LEVELS: Experience with and willingness to perform routine mammalian cell culture, including thawing, feeding, splitting/passaging, cryopreservation, and maintenance of human cell lines (including stem cells). Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records and follow established procedures. Ability to work both independently and as part of a group, and recognize and respond to problems in a timely manner. Strong organizational and communication skills. The successful candidate will be hired at the RESA I, II, or III level depending on education, relevant experience, and demonstrated level of independence in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, laboratory operations, and research support. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Experience with human cancer cell lines. Experience with maintaining cell lines, preventing contamination, mycoplasma testing, cryopreservation, and microscopy is strongly preferred. Experience with laboratory ordering, inventory systems, shared equipment, SOP and development is desirable. Additional experience with protein purification and biochemistry. Salary Range
