Laboratory Support

Summary: The Respiratory Care Laboratory Assistant supports the operation, maintenance, and instructional activities of the Respiratory Care Program laboratory. This position assists faculty and students in preparing laboratory equipment, simulations, and educational materials to ensure a safe, organized, and effective learning environment. The role is ideal for a new graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care Program seeking to gain experience in respiratory care education, simulation, laboratory operations, and student support.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare laboratory spaces for instructional activities, simulations, skills testing, and laboratory demonstrations.
  • Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory care equipment.
  • Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment logs.
  • Clean, disinfect, and store laboratory equipment according to infection control and safety standards.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs as directed.

Student and Faculty Support:

  • Provide assistance during laboratory practice sessions and open laboratory hours.
  • Reinforce proper equipment setup, operation, and clinical procedures under faculty direction.
  • Assist faculty with laboratory activities, competency assessments, simulations, and special projects.
