An immediate position is available at East Bay Municipal Utility District's (EBMUD) Pardee Center based at Pardee Reservoir near Valley Springs, approximately 85 miles from EBMUD headquarters in Oakland.
The Materials Specialist coordinates the procurement, receipts, storage, inventory, transportation, issuance, and recording of materials, supplies, tools, parts, or equipment for various large water supply facilities and work groups; performs storekeeping and materials handling duties; and exercises independent judgment and action in coordinating procurement of materials and services. Duties include:
Administrative
*Ensuring purchases and service costs are effectively controlled to meet budget limits
*Utilizing system to track and update invoice and purchase transactions
*Maintaining records of purchases, requisitions, invoices, inventory records, vendor files, annual purchase orders, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and other related documents
*Providing technical input and supporting modernization efforts of inventory management systems
Procurement and Acquisition
*Performing parts, materials, equipment, and vendor research
*Using drawings, parts lists, specifications, and verbal or written communication from other staff to procure the necessary parts, materials, and services
*Coordinating the scheduling, delivery, return, and payment for rental equipment
*Using knowledge of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment used in water, wastewater, public works, mechanical maintenance, and construction to effectively perform job duties
*Establishing critical parts and materials list and vendor contact lists
*Ensuring that EBMUD Small Business Enterprise vendors are utilized when possible
*Ensuring that EBMUD purchasing procedures for services, materials, and equipment are administered appropriately
*Initiating material reorder when stock level reaches reorder point
*Organizing and managing the services of outside vendors
Storekeeping/Warehouse
*Operating a forklift to load, unload, move, and stock materials, supplies, and equipment
*Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work area
*Unpacking and inspecting deliveries for damage and order completion; storing received merchandise in a logical and orderly fashion; preparing materials for shipment
*Maintaining inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment; making necessary stock level adjustments; establishing reorder points; ensuring inventory movements are recorded on computer or manually
*Picking up and delivering materials, parts, supplies, and equipment from various places to prevent work delays or to enhance productivity; locating parts and materials and filling stock orders
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to learn and research unfamiliar materials, equipment, and processes; stay organized and communicate effectively using appropriate tools and technology; and work safely and confidently in a hands-on operational environment involving materials, equipment, and physical tasks. Experience supporting operations, repairs, maintenance, or capital improvements in a utility, industrial, construction, warehouse, or similar environment is desirable.
The salary range is $8,621 per month, increasing to $9,052, $9,505, and $9,980 after 12, 24, and 36 months, respectively.
