Department of Pathobiology and Integrative Biomedical Sciences (PIBS) - College of Veterinary Medicine Job Description
PIBS is hiring a Research Laboratory Technician in the University of Missouri Metagenomics Center (MUMC) and MU Mutant Mouse Resource and Research Center (MMRRC). Duties and responsibilities: provide technical support for the MUMC and MU MMRRC including receipt and inventory of biological samples, including Biosafety Level-2 (BSL2) samples; sample handling including nucleic acid extraction and quantification, normalization and plating of DNA, and transport of material to and from MU Core facilities on the main MU campus; basic data management and distribution to clients; assistance with preparation and distribution of service quotes and invoices; and assistance with animal necropsies, post mortem sample collection, and other procedures as needed. Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS), or comparable degree; familiarity with Microsoft Office software suite (e.g., Excel, Outlook); strong attention-to-detail, and strong interpersonal skills. Experience with DNA extraction, and an understanding of basic finance is also preferred. Anticipated Hiring Range
