Location: Medical Center - Fort WorthDepartment: Rehab-Downtown FWShift: First Shift (United States of America)Standard Weekly Hours: 40Summary: The acutecare speechpathologist will have the knowledge and skills to evaluate, diagnose,and treat medically complex patients within medical/surgicaland intensive care settings.Typical populations served include children with neurological, aerodigestive, cardiac,trauma, prematurity, and hematology/oncology diagnoses.The speech pathologist willbe responsible forcomprehensive, developmentallyappropriateclinicalfeeding evaluations, instrumental swallow assessments, andfeeding/dysphagia management for children ranging frominfancy to adolescence. The speech pathologist will also evaluateand create individualizedevidencedbasedtreatment plans for cognitive communication, speech, and language disorders with emphasis on restoring function, prevention of disability,andenhancing communicationoutcomes. The speech pathologist willcollaborate with multidisciplinary teamsincluding nurses, physicians,dietitians,lactation,respiratory therapists,andoccupational/physicaltherapists tooptimizepatient outcomes.Family centered care with strong caregiver education is essential during evaluation and treatment sessionstofacilitatedischarge planning.Responsibilities alsoincludeelectronicdocumentation,rounding, staff/student education,use of standardized assessments, quality, safety,and clinical prioritizationwithin afast-pacedenvironment.The SLPis responsible forrotating weekend coverage, holidays, and inclement weathercoverage.
