Hours are variable and will include travel between locations. Summary: This position functions as a mid-level manager with daily operational responsibilities for a patient access team that supports multiple clinic and hospital departments for both professional and hospital services. The position directly supervises frontline staff in a variety of capacities within Patient Access. Additionally, the Supervisor is responsible for ensuringregistration is conducted efficiently and in a high quality manner to meet financialgoals and adhere to compliant billing and point of service collectionsregulations. Responsibilities: 1. Educates assigned clinical departments on Patient Access operations. Provides consultation services to clinic departments related to improved revenues, and advocate for patient and customer satisfaction. Provide general guidance to staff on Patient Access protocols. 2. Independently, or in collaboration with other teams, develops and implements procedures to optimize revenue generation. Document new or revised procedures and ensures staff and clinical departments are aware of and properly trained in all procedures. 3. Manages team projects and participate in intra-departmental projects. Lead or serve on recurring task force teams, project workgroups, special projects, and Patient Access leadership meetings. Develops and implements process improvement plans. 4. Manages Patient Access as it relates to patient registration and point of service collections for the assigned clinical departments. Ensures that all patient access related issues, including insurance and registration issues are reviewed, researched, and resolved. 5. Participates in staff recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and orientation. Selects and appraises employees. Conducts performance evaluations and employee discipline in accordance with UNCHCS policies and procedures. Ensures staff is appropriately trained. Works closely with both departmental and system operational trainers. 6. Collaborates with management to perform routine and ad hoc analyses, audits, reporting, and workflow studies as required to ensure revenue optimization. Analyzes findings and presents to clinic department and management. 7. Works closely with Patient Access QA Team to ensure quality registrations, reduce registration-related denials, and prevent revenue loss. 8. Provides input to department budget process and monitors to ensure fiscal accountability. Collaborates with management to establish and monitor department goals, metrics, and established productivity measures. 9. Serve as liaison between Patient Access and assigned clinical departments. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Clinical Department Chairs, Clinic Administrators, Division Chiefs, Clinical Faculty, and Patient Access and UNCHCS senior level executives. Represent UNC Patient Access in clinical department and committee meetings. 10.Assists in developing standard registration processes that are adhered to across the system. 11.Supervises the operations of a cross-disciplinary team for assigned areas in accordance with established standards and procedures. Provides direction and oversight to subordinates. Ensures staff complies with relevant regulations, policies and certifications. Maintains employee schedules and attendance records.

Other information: Education Requirements: * High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement. Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Health Administration or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Licensure/Certification Requirements: * No licensure or certification required. Professional Experience Requirements: * If an Associate's degree: Two (2) years of relevant experience. If a High School diploma or GED: Five (5) years of relevant experience. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: * Strong customer service skills/experience * Proficient in time management with superior prioritization skills. * Must be self-motivated and detail oriented with strong analytical and critical-thinking skills * Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to professionally present information. * Understanding of overall hospital revenue cycle functions.
