The Department of Psychiatry at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (
RWJMS) seeks a Faculty Instructor to expand our research portfolio in network and computational neuroscience approaches to psychiatric illness. The Instructor will be housed within the laboratory of Dr. Avram Holmes and will work to support the research initiatives of that group/lab under the supervision of the lab head. Priority will be given to work aligned with the Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research (
CAHBIR; (
https://sites.rutgers.edu/cahbir/).
We seek candidates with expertise in network neuroscience, computational modeling, neuroimaging, and related approaches to understanding psychiatric illness. The Faculty Instructor will conduct collaborative research, contribute to the department's strategic research initiatives, and work closely with a multidisciplinary team. The position includes faculty mentorship and is intended as a transitional appointment to a faculty career track. Appointment is contingent on funding and is limited to a maximum of three years. |

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
1. Performs research activities related to neuroimaging and psychopathology as directed by their faculty supervisor/principal investigator (PI).
2. Leads the design and implementation of research projects, from study conceptualization, through collection, and analyses under the supervision of the PI.
3. In consultation with the PI, plan, design, and contribute to the submission of large-scale federal grant applications.
4. Publishes results in peer-reviewed journals, presents at national and international conferences, and presents within their home and peer institutions. In consultation with the PI, assist in the coordination and organization of departmental/center/program linked talk series.
5. If supported and/or directed by the faculty supervisor, submit application(s) as a principal investigator for extramural funding to conduct novel research within the scope of the research group's/lab's research interests, and which includes salary support for the incumbent's (faculty Instructor) position.
6. Assists with research compliance activities, including communications with funders (i.e.
NIH), maintaining up-to-date research training and certifications,
IRB or
IACUC applications, and other activities.
7. Manages communication with external collaborators.
8. Documents research activities, maintains a database of up-to-date research protocols, and manages and organizes large datasets that have been generated in the service of research projects.
9. Supervises undergraduates, technicians, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.
10. Performs other related duties as required. |
