Job Description

The Office of Institutional Research and Data Management (IR/DM) seeks an experienced and highly motivated institutional research professional to advance data-informed decision-making at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. The Data Analyst II will play a key role in transforming institutional data into meaningful insights and interactive dashboards using Power BI.

This position will be responsible for collecting, integrating, analyzing, and visualizing institutional data to support strategic planning and decision-making across the university. The Data Analyst II will develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that communicate trends, patterns, and key performance indicators to institutional leaders, stakeholders, and the IR/DM team.

The successful candidate will apply strong analytical and statistical skills to explore and interpret data across a variety of institutional research areas, including but not limited to enrollment, admissions, academic programs, student outcomes, retention and graduation, faculty and staff characteristics, and other university performance measures. The position will work closely with stakeholders to identify reporting needs, translate business questions into analytical solutions, and ensure that dashboards and reports provide accurate, accessible, and actionable information.|

The Data Analyst II will also contribute to data quality and governance efforts, develop efficient data models and reporting processes, and ensure that institutional data is presented consistently and effectively. Expertise in Power BI, data visualization, SQL, statistical analysis, and working with large or complex datasets will be highly valuable in supporting the university's institutional research and data-driven initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in mathematics, computer science, applied statistics or highly related social sciences discipline or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis/mining and reporting
  • Institutional research experience in higher education, research agency, or medical institution
  • Social science research experience
  • SAS, SPSS, Python, R. Experience in visualization techniques and software
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $70,512-$85,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
