CDL Switcher Driver
Pay: $25.50/hour
Sign-On Bonus: $2,000
Schedule: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE...
As a CDL Switcher Driver, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trailers, materials, and products throughout the facility and between locations. Your attention to safety, compliance, and operational excellence will help maintain a smooth flow of warehouse and transportation operations while supporting on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction.
WHAT YOU WILL DO...
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, straight trucks, forklifts, floor jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Shuttle merchandise and raw materials between company properties and facilities.
- Complete local backhaul deliveries as needed.
- Move trailers to and from shipping and receiving dock areas and designated yard locations.
- Perform DOT and company-required pre-trip inspections and maintain all required logs and records.
- Maintain accurate trip reports and trailer yard inventory documentation.
- Conduct lot checks and yard checks to ensure proper trailer placement and accountability.
- Learn and utilize the facility's yard management system.
- Inspect drop trailer loads to verify products are properly secured prior to departure.
- Apply trailer seals and immediately address any loading discrepancies.
- Place bills of lading and other required shipping paperwork on dropped trailers as needed.
- Assist in transferring products from warehouse racks to trucks when necessary.
- Support warehouse operations through pallet retrieval, distribution, sweeping, and general housekeeping duties.
- Maintain exterior dock areas, including debris removal, snow and ice removal, and light maintenance activities.
- Inspect trailer restraints, dock shelters, dock enclosures, dock bumpers, lighting, and other dock equipment while reporting maintenance needs.
- Follow all safety, personal protection, housekeeping, and sanitation procedures.
- Report defective equipment, safety concerns, and workplace injuries promptly.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by warehouse leadership.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE... (MUST HAVE)
- CDL Class A Driver's License.
- Valid DOT Medical Card.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety requirements.
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment.
- Ability to work a 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM schedule.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and teamwork.
- Ability to work in warehouse and outdoor yard environments with varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping skills.
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE... (NICE TO HAVE)
- Minimum of 1 year of tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, production, distribution, or warehouse environment.
- CDL Tank Vehicle Endorsement (if applicable).
- Previous experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
- Experience using yard management systems.
- Familiarity with trailer inventory management, yard checks, and dock operations.
- Basic maintenance or facilities support experience.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Work Environment
- Warehouse and outdoor yard environment.
- Moderate warehouse noise levels.
- Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Frequent driving throughout the shift.
- Frequent standing, sitting, pushing, pulling, and use of hands.
- Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, and physical lifting requirements up to 50 pounds.
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
