The role is intentionally designed to require only a minimal time commitment. Responsibilities would primarily include:

• Occasionally reviewing donor corneal tissue with our staff to assist with surgical suitability decisions when questions arise.
• Very rarely serving as a backup resource for donor eligibility consultations when our Medical Director, Dr. Josh Hou, is unavailable.

In practice, these situations occur infrequently, and our staff would bring the tissue or cases directly to you to minimize disruption to your clinical schedule.

All required qualifications must be on application materials in order to be considered for this position.

Required qualifications:

• Hold a medical degree
• Completion of a residency training program in ophthalmology
• Completion of a fellowship in cornea and refractive diseases

Lions Gift of Sight (formerly Minnesota Lions Eye Bank) was established after the partnership between the Lions and the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Neurosciences came to life in 1960, providing donor eye tissue for transplant, research, and teaching and promoting donation through education. Lions Gift of Sight has helped restore sight to more than 22,000 people by providing cornea tissue for transplantation and is one of the largest and most successful eye banks in the world.
