AV Systems Design Engineer Location: Andover, MA Schedule: Primarily On-Site with Hybrid Flexibility Available Employment Type: Full-Time Must-Have Requirements * Experience on the pre-sales and/or post-sales side of commercial AV systems. * Hands-on experience designing AV solutions for corporate, enterprise, higher education, healthcare, or other commercial environments. * Strong knowledge of audiovisual system architecture, collaboration technologies, and integrated AV solutions. * Experience creating AV system designs, equipment specifications, drawings, and supporting documentation. * Ability to work directly with clients, sales teams, architects, consultants, and project stakeholders. Overview We are seeking an AV Systems Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting the design and delivery of innovative audiovisual solutions for commercial spaces. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with clients, understanding technical requirements, and developing AV system designs that support modern workplace collaboration and communication needs. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting projects during either the pre-sales design phase, the post-sales engineering phase, or both. Responsibilities * Design integrated AV systems for conference rooms, training spaces, boardrooms, collaboration environments, and other commercial facilities. * Gather client requirements and translate business needs into technical AV solutions. * Develop system schematics, signal flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and infrastructure requirements. * Create bills of materials, scopes of work, and engineering documentation. * Collaborate with sales teams to support solution development, presentations, and client meetings. * Work closely with project managers, installation teams, and programmers to ensure successful project execution. * Participate in site surveys and client-facing design meetings. * Review completed installations and ensure systems align with design intent and project requirements. * Stay current on AV technologies, collaboration platforms, and industry best practices. Qualifications * Experience designing commercial AV systems in a pre-sales, post-sales, systems engineering, or consulting capacity. * Strong understanding of AV technologies including video conferencing, digital signal processing, audio systems, control systems, video distribution, and collaboration platforms. * Experience with platforms such as Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Extron, Cisco, Poly, or similar technologies. * Ability to interpret architectural drawings, floorplans, and construction documents. * Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, or similar design tools is highly preferred. * CTS-D, CTS-I, or other AVIXA certifications are a plus. * Excellent communication and client-facing skills. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Andover, MA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
