The Allan Hancock Joint Community College District announces a vacancy on its board of trustees due to the resignation of Trustee Hilda Zacarias, Trustee Area 1 (Northern Santa Maria). The District has chosen to appoint an individual to fill the vacancy. Individuals interested in being considered for appointment to Trustee Area 1 must submit an electronic Candidate Application. Applications must be received no later than September 25, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. All applications will be date and time stamped. The appointee will hold office until the next Governing Board Member election, which occurs at the Statewide General Election in November 2028. (Education Code Section 5091). Minimum Qualifications The candidate must be: 18 years of age or older A California citizen A registered voter Not disqualified by the Constitution or state laws from holding a civil office A resident of the Allan Hancock Joint Community College District residing in Trustee Area 1 (Detailed map of Area 1 can be found here) At a meeting to be scheduled on October 9, 2026, the Board of Trustees of the Allan Hancock Joint Community College District will interview candidates, appoint the new board member, and administer the Oath of Office. Candidates must be present to be considered. They may be asked to provide a presentation and answer questions from board members.
