Position Title: Scientist III (Immunology Discovery, Barreira Lab)

Work Location: South San Francisco CA

Assignment Duration: 3 + Months

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; Standard 8-hour shift (40hrs/week)

Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite

Position Summary:



  • We are seeking a creative, self-motived, and collaborative Contractor/Scientist 3 to join the Department of Immunology Discovery at our organization. The selected candidate will contribute to groundbreaking research focusing on understanding the role of intracellular pathways in immune cell phenotype, migration to tissues and inflammation.
  • This is a hands-on laboratory position at our organization's campus in South San Francisco. The successful candidate will implement and apply molecular biology, biochemistry, and cellular immunology to elucidate disease pathways and validate therapeutic targets. The role involves close collaborations with multidisciplinary teams across our organization to achieve research objectives.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Contribute to groundbreaking research focusing on understanding the role of intracellular pathways in immune cell phenotype, migration to tissues and inflammation.
  • Implement and apply molecular biology, biochemistry, and cellular immunology to elucidate disease pathways and validate therapeutic targets.
  • Work in close collaborations with multidisciplinary teams across our organization to achieve research objectives.


Qualification & Experience:



  • PhD (or equivalent) in immunology, cell biology, biochemistry or a related discipline
  • Isolating immune cells for downstream analysis.
  • Hands-on experience in cellular and molecular immunology techniques including primary cell isolation from human blood, in vitro immunological assays and multi-dimensional flow cytometry.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and creative problem-solving are required
  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions.


Nice to have



  • Experience in cell engineering (e.g. protein overexpression methods, CRISPR-mediated KO techniques)
  • Hands-on experience in collecting tissues from rodents (colon, spleen, lymph nodes, bone marrow)
  • Analysis of data from single cell or bulk RNA-seq is preferred.
