Overview

Copilot Notebooks is evolving into a new agentic workspace where people bring together their goals, context, and knowledge, then collaborate with AI to move work forward. We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to define and deliver this next generation of Notebooks, creating an experience that is grounded, transparent, controllable, and deeply integrated into the flow of work.

In this role, you will combine product vision, customer insight, technical depth, and cross-functional leadership. You will shape how users organize knowledge, delegate work to agents, inspect and manage grounding, and turn ideas into durable outcomes across Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities
  • Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for feature areas within the Copilot Notebooks agentic workspace, owning outcomes from early definition through adoption and measurable customer and business impact.

  • Translate customer needs, market signals, and advances in AI into clear product requirements, differentiated scenarios, and prioritized investments.

  • Partner closely with design and engineering to rapidly prototype, validate, and iterate on intuitive end-to-end experiences, using short learning cycles from early concepts through launch and continuous improvement.

  • Drive alignment across partner teams; proactively identify issues, clarify ownership and tradeoffs, and carry decisions through resolution.

  • Define success metrics and evaluation frameworks for product and AI quality, user value, engagement, reliability, responsible AI, adoption, and business impact.

  • Use qualitative and quantitative insights to test hypotheses, learn quickly, make informed tradeoffs, and adapt plans as evidence emerges.

  • Work with research, marketing, sales, support, and customer-facing teams to stay close to customers, validate scenarios, prepare launches, and accelerate adoption.

  • Model AI-forward product leadership by using AI to improve personal and team effectiveness, mentoring product managers, and fostering a culture of customer empathy, clarity, experimentation, ownership, and accountability.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience defining strategy and shipping complex software products used by a broad and diverse customer base.
  • Deep understanding of AI-powered product experiences, including latest models, agents, evaluation, and responsible AI considerations.
  • Proven ability to lead across organizational boundaries and influence engineering, design, research, marketing, and executive stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience using data, experimentation, customer research, and product-quality signals to guide decisions and measure outcomes.
  • Experience building AI-first productivity, collaboration, or knowledge-management products.
  • Experience launching enterprise products with privacy, security, compliance, administration, and governance requirements.
  • A track record of creating new products from early incubation through scaled adoption.

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
