Department Overview
The department is part of a multidisciplinary Division of Substance Use and Addiction Medicine within a major academic medical center's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and a public safety-net hospital.

The division is dedicated to providing culturally competent services to a diverse patient population through evidence-based practices, cultural humility, and trauma-informed care. Its programs provide a broad range of substance use treatment and support services across hospital and community-based settings.

The team is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for both staff and patients and to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities it serves.

Scope of the Role
This is an experienced professional position requiring the ability to apply established theories and practices independently. The Patient Navigator is expected to possess broad knowledge of the professional field, analyze issues of varying complexity, and determine appropriate solutions.

The role serves as a non-clinical resource and liaison for patients and their families, helping them navigate healthcare services, resolve access issues, and identify opportunities to improve the patient experience. The position works collaboratively with department leadership and clinical staff to support quality outcomes and a patient-focused culture.
