Summary Job Description: Rad TECH - Radiological Technologist PRN, First Shift BHCOR-Radiology Diagnostic I Corbin, KY Our Radiology Diagnostic department provides comprehensive imaging services, including X-rays and fluoroscopy. These diagnostic tools are essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Radiological Technologist Provides health care services applying pulsed x-ray energy to assist with diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure. Description:
- Performs high-quality diagnostic imaging exams in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
- Verifies patient identity, medical history, and exam information while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and proper positioning throughout procedures.
- Applies radiation safety standards, including ALARA principles, for patients, staff, and self during all imaging procedures.
- Produces and manages diagnostic images, ensuring accurate documentation and image archiving within PACS and the electronic health record (EHR).
- Administers contrast materials and performs peripheral venipuncture when indicated while monitoring patients for adverse reactions or changes in condition.
- Performs equipment quality control, reports malfunctions or safety concerns, and maintains department supplies and readiness.
- Collaborates with Radiologists, Nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to support efficient patient flow and scheduling.
- Supports accreditation, compliance, staff training, and adherence to hospital policies, infection control, and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- Current Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (KBMIRT) License required.
- Must obtain American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire if not current upon hire.
- Must obtain and maintain American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography (RT(R)) within 1 year of hire.
