Overview
QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a dedicated and qualified Medical Office Clerk to support a government healthcare contract at Barksdale Medical Group, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana within a front desk clinical setting in a Department of Defense (DoD) medical treatment facility. The selected candidate will perform critical front desk and administrative functions including Greet patients/visitors at a clinic front desk; checks in patients for patient encounter. Answers main office phone line. Schedule medical appointments and determine patient eligibility for services as needed. Performs other administrative and clerical duties in support of medical care and operational support. Conducts end-of-day process at close of business and resolve any delinquent or pending appointments in computer system.
Duty Location: Barksdale Medical Group, Barksdale AFB, LA 71110. No Telework allowed.
- Duty Hours: Monday-Friday between the hours of 0700 and 1700 Central Standard Time (CST). Shifts will normally be scheduled for a nine-hour period, to include an uncompensated 60-minute lunch break. In no instance will the contract worker be required to provide services in excess of 40 hours per week.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Contact patients to schedule, reschedule, and/or cancel appointments as needed, to include appointments for consult/referral specialty care.
- Use multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents to provide miscellaneous clerical support.
Specific Duties:
- A fully qualified typist (computer keyboard) with a minimum of 50 WPM is required.
- General medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
- English language, correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to prepare and edit written correspondence, reports, and transcribed material.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- General office administrative and clerical skills to perform receptionist duties and answer telephones.
- Ability to use standard office equipment, such as computers, typewriters, copiers, fax machines, telephone systems and office automations systems to perform a substantial range of medical record maintenance support.
- General knowledge of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree/Education: High School Degree or GED
- Experience:
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of clerical experience in a medical setting, or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- A fully qualified typist (computer keyboard) with a minimum of 50 WPM is required.
- Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Certification(s):
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government.
Physical Demands
- Contract workers shall maintain good personal hygiene and present a well-groomed and professional appearance IAW the policy at the place of performance.
- The work requires long periods of sedentary activity involving intense concentration and repetitive manual tasks. Some walking, standing, bending, and lifting of multiple files is involved. The work involves periods of rapidly changing pace requiring adequate stress management skills. Contracted personnel shall perform all duties in a professional and ethical manner.
Additional Information
- Background/Security Investigation: The contract worker must be able to pass a government required security investigation and return required documentation timely.
- Occupational Health: The contract worker shall be required to obtain documentation of required physical testing or a report of a physical examination.
- Tuberculosis Screening: The Contractor ensure contract workers shall be screened for tuberculosis (TB).
- Health Requirements. The Contractor shall provide documentation certifying health requirements such as immunizations, annual vaccinations, and physical examination when required at the time of initial placement. Includes pre-employment drug screening.
