Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Business Systems Manager, independently perform advanced business systems analysis supporting Facilities Planning & Development's (FP&D) capital planning, design, construction, and facilities information programs. Working collaboratively with Business Systems team members and cross-functional business partners, analyze existing business processes, identify operational challenges, facilitate stakeholder discussions, develop business requirements, recommend process improvements, and participate in implementation of sustainable business solutions that improve the quality, accessibility, and long-term value of project information.

Partner with Project Delivery, Plant Operations & Maintenance (PO&M), Compliance, Fire Marshal Office, Information Technology, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to improve business practices supporting project documentation throughout the facility lifecycle. Collaborate with Business Systems staff responsible for enterprise information systems and technical platforms to ensure business processes, documentation standards, and technology solutions align to meet organizational objectives. #CA-DS

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Experience interpreting architectural and engineering drawings and construction documentation.
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD to create and modify construction drawings.
  • Experience utilizing Bluebeam for review, markup, and coordination of construction documents.
  • Progressively responsible experience in business systems analysis, business process improvement, project coordination, construction administration, facilities information management, or a related field.
  • Experience gathering business requirements, analyzing business processes, and developing and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience preparing business documentation including workflows, procedures, requirements, or training materials.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders to develop practical business solutions.
  • Knowledge of business systems analysis, business process improvement, and requirements gathering principles.
  • Knowledge of capital project delivery, construction documentation, and project closeout processes.
  • Knowledge of architectural and engineering drawings, drafting principles, and construction document management practices.
  • Skill in analyzing business processes and developing practical, customer-focused solutions.
  • Skill in preparing business documentation, procedures, workflows, and training materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, build collaborative relationships, and manage multiple priorities independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AutoCAD or other CAD-related certification.
  • Business analysis, project management, or process improvement certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Autodesk Construction Cloud, or related facilities technologies.
  • Experience supporting capital project delivery, facilities management, healthcare, or higher education.
  • Experience with SharePoint, enterprise document management systems, and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with PMWEB or other Project Management Information Systems (PMIS).
  • Knowledge of facilities information management, records management, and information lifecycle best practices.
  • Knowledge of healthcare, higher education, or public sector business operations.
  • Skill in facilitating cross-functional process improvement initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
  • Skill in evaluating business needs and translating them into functional business requirements.
  • Ability to identify opportunities that improve operational efficiency, information quality, and user experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of University and Campus Policies, procedures, practices and resources related to project and building deliverables.

Department Overview

The Facilities Planning & Development (FP&D) Division mission is the implementation of the Health System's Capital Improvement Program in keeping with the Long Range Development Plan (LRDP). This includes the authority and responsibility to manage acute care capital improvement planning, design, and construction projects. This position has the primary responsibility for implementing and achieving the department purpose.

Department Specific Job Scope

Serve as a Business Systems Analyst specializing in the analysis, coordination, and continuous improvement of business processes related to project documentation, project closeout, facilities information, and enterprise document management.

Serve as a functional resource supporting project documentation initiatives while balancing business needs, technical capabilities, operational requirements, and regulatory expectations. Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental business systems, documentation practices, and enterprise facilities information supporting UC Davis Health's expansion and maintenance.
