Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC has a potential need for an Animal Research Coordinator to provide support for our government customer in San Antonio, TX.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all research protocols, schedules, and regulatory documentation are developed, submitted, and maintained in accordance with institutional guidelines.
  • Assist with protocol writing, study source document preparation, and submission to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
  • Coordinate one or more simultaneous projects for the PI/Director and communicate regularly with Departmental Supervisors to schedule all study-related activities.
  • Document all regulatory, research, and administrative actions to ensure continuous study compliance.
  • Confer with the investigator on experimental design and establish study participant contact procedures.
  • Execute animal research studies and perform advanced clinical procedures to support ongoing protocols.
  • Execute animal research protocols, requiring hands-on handling and operational experience with swine models.
  • Perform specialized surgical and clinical procedures on swine models, including internal jugular/femoral Swan Ganz catheter insertion, application of Near-Infrared Spectroscopy, and continuous physiologic vital sign interpretation.
  • Administer scheduled and emergent treatments via infusion pumps, standard pressure bags, IV catheters, or central lines.
  • Provide instruction to laboratory personnel on various research laboratory techniques and equipment usage.
  • Maintain high data integrity, organize research information, and support the dissemination of scientific findings.
  • Conduct continuous QC on study source documents and large research databases to ensure data accuracy.
  • Organize research information, manage data collection workflows, and build comprehensive study files.
  • Assist with the preparation of abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and presentation graphics to support research findings.
  • Prepare and deliver required periodic reports, correspondence, and other research documentation directly to the PI.
  • Manage projects budgets, procure necessary supplies, and utilize administrative software systems effectively.
  • Assist with budget preparation for project execution and actively monitor research study budgets.
  • Research equipment and supply catalogs; recommend and process purchase requests for projects in accordance with IACUC requirements.
  • Utilize available software systems for accounts tracking, publication submissions, purchase orders, credit card purchases, and processing incoming/outgoing funds.
  • Develop comprehensive schedules and prepare correspondence to support overall administrative research operations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a biological science related discipline.
  • Any certification(s) through AALAS ( i.e. - ALAT, LAT, and/or LATG) are highly desired.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must provide proof of immunization, or immunity from or screening for the following diseases according to DHA guidelines equivalent to that provided to active work Armed Forces: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis, Tuberculosis (TB), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (Contract employee who has direct patient care) and influenza for all personnel.
  • Experience in clinical research.
  • Experience in working in a "hands on" capacity with swine.
  • Completion of AALAS accreditation training for working with laboratory animals, and the ability to maintain accreditation.
  • Completion of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
  • Familiarity with GCP in practical application.
  • Must be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a CAC card.
