| Position Summary |
The responsibilities for this position include:
- Maintenance and upkeep of the McColl building, Bell Hall, and Kenan Center, identification of and response to maintenance issues, scheduling of maintenance work utilizing both internal and external suppliers.
- Routine, proactive review of the building condition and identifying periodic preventative maintenance and required repairs, providing installation and repair of furniture, fixtures and equipment purchased by the facilities department as required, as well as building, replacement, and refurbishment of furniture.
- Providing support for events, working with client to determine needs, setting up and breaking down event furniture, providing support to client during the event.
- Coordinating office moves, classroom furniture repairs and readiness, signage changes, and furniture, equipment and accessories installation.
- Ensuring telephones and copiers are functioning and are stocked with paper and calling in repairs and replacement.
- Ensuring the safety, health and security of
KFBS occupants including being on call to respond to urgent facilities needs and maintenance calls, organizing and maintaining storage areas.
- Working with
UNC grounds, maintenance, facilities and housekeeping to ensure cleanliness and proper function of systems and property, assisting in managing keys and tending to lock-outs, distribution of mail according to University and postal requirements, maintaining a neat, organized environment. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. |
| Management Preferences |
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- General trades experience;
- Proven problem-solving abilities;
- Excellent communication skills;
- The ability to perform light carpentry duties;
- The ability to diagnose and repair plumbing fixtures. |

This position requires the ability to climb a ladder, lift 50 pounds, bend, work in tight spaces, and stand or walk for long periods. |
