SUMMARY
TVH is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in US Customs & International Trade Compliance to anchor our technical capabilities across the Americas region. This high-impact Individual Contributor (IC) role serves as TVH's primary regulatory architect, safeguarding operations while optimizing our global supply chain. Reporting locally to the US Compliance Manager and into our global structure - the Global Customs & Trade Compliance Manager or the VP Assurance in Belgium - this person acts as the critical bridge between complex US statutory requirements and global corporate strategy.
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory Intelligence & Strategic Impact Analysis
- Continuously monitor, interpret, and perform rigorous impact analyses on evolving US and international customs and trade laws, including US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, Antidumping/Countervailing Duties (AD/CVD), Partner Government Agencies (PGAs), and export controls.
- Translate complex legislative updates and trade remedies into clear, strict, and actionable compliance requirements tailored to TVH's extensive product portfolio.
- Act as a trusted internal counsel to the Americas executive leadership and cross-functional teams, transforming dense legalities into agile business strategies that support continuity of operations.
Governance, Risk, & Audit Frameworks
- Design, implement, and oversee robust internal trade compliance audit frameworks and risk assessment methodologies to evaluate the health of TVH's regional trade activities.
- Lead complex regulatory investigations, oversee root-cause analysis, and establish systemic corrective action plans to mitigate compliance exposure.
- Serve as the definitive regional authority for complex customs valuation, tariff classification (HTSUS), and country-of-origin determination, ensuring a seamless escalation path to the US Compliance Manager and global Assurance leadership in Belgium.
C-TPAT Stewardship & Supply Chain Security
- Take full strategic ownership of the maintenance, validation, and continuous optimization of TVH's Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) status.
- Design and implement robust supply chain security controls, ensuring total alignment, education, and compliance across global partners, vendors, and internal logistics infrastructure.
Collaboration & Organizational Advocacy
- Participate in and coordinate high-stakes enterprise projects, embedding strict compliance parameters from project definition through to final delivery.
- Actively champion and elevate trade compliance awareness across all levels of the Americas organization, equipping management and operational teams with the insights needed to conduct business with absolute integrity.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3+ years of dedicated experience in US customs regulations, international trade compliance, and trade remedies within a complex global supply chain or corporate environment.
- A valid US Customs Broker License (LCB) or Certified US Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) designation is highly preferred.
- Authoritative knowledge of HTSUS classification, customs valuation, free trade agreements, PGA requirements, and C-TPAT program management.
- Proficiency with global trade management (GTM) software, advanced data analytics, and reporting tools to measure compliance performance metrics is considered a plus.
- Proven capability to not just identify regulatory hurdles, but engineer compliant, efficient, and elegant business solutions.
- Exceptional interpersonal and articulation skills, with the ability to distill complex legal structures into precise, respectful briefing materials for both the Americas executive team and global leadership in Belgium.
- Highly self-directed, with the technical courage to make high-stakes regulatory determinations independently or in partnership with the US Compliance Manager in a fast-paced environment.
