GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for supervising the activities of the hospital security officers on Bryan East and West campuses, to include oversight of hospital security operations, direct supervision and on-the job training of hospital security officers and shift leads, and ensuring full coverage of posts on their assigned campus. This role will identify and report incidents, direct and monitor performance of hospital security officers in a friendly and professional manner, and ensure the safety of patients, visitors, staff, and providers.

  1. Ensure proper staffing between different assigned shifts.






  1. Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity.






  1. Responds to calls for a variety of services to include but not limited to: escorts, property pickup, disturbances, and security/medical assist calls.



  2. Serve as a point of escalation for Hospital Security staff as it pertains to verbally and physically de-escalating individuals, as needed; direct persons causing a disturbance to exit the property in a calm and respectful manner.



  3. *Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, retaining and evaluating of staff.






  1. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or another related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience required. Two (2) years of leadership experience in a healthcare or other related security setting required.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Completion of Management of Assaultive Behaviors training within six (6) months of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)
