Job Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and equipment both in the shop and in the field.
- Maintain advanced knowledge and proficiency in the repair and maintenance of:
- Chassis components
- Refuse bodies, including hydraulic, electrical, and control systems
- Air and hydraulic brake systems
- Diesel engines
- Suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems
- Heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems
- Preventive and line maintenance
- Welding and fabrication repairs
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using a variety of electronic diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Complete inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs in accordance with company standards and safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate service and repair documentation.
- Participate in company-provided training to enhance technical knowledge and stay current with industry advancements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support fleet operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks, commercial vehicles, or related equipment.
- Ability to independently inspect, diagnose, and repair some or all of the following systems:
- Suspension and Steering
- Diesel Engines
- Transmissions
- Brakes (Air and Hydraulic)
- Electrical Systems
- Hydraulic Systems
- Drivetrain Components
- Diesel Emissions Systems
- Experience performing maintenance and repairs on vacuum pump trucks is highly preferred.
- Experience with tanker truck maintenance and repair is preferred.
- Welding and fabrication experience is highly preferred.
- Brake certification is required.
- ASE Heavy Truck Certifications are preferred but not required.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to work independently.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
