Dental Assistant (Per Diem)

Summary:
Assists dentist by performing patient care duties during dental procedures.

Responsibilities:
1. Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Prepares and arranges instrument trays and conducts inventory and restocks supplies.
2. Completes patient records and schedules reappointments.
3. Explains procedures and provides support to patients. Instructs patient, family, and/or healthcare staff in basic oral hygiene.
4. Mixes impression and filling material.
5. Performs chair-side duties of patient care such as passing instruments to the dentist during dental procedures operates oral evacuation equipment, retractors, and water and air sprays monitors the patient's behavior and vital signs upon request of the dentist takes routine x-rays such as bite wings.
6. Processes and mounts x-ray films.

Education Requirements:
* Graduation from an approved dental assistant course (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* If graduation from an approved dental assistant course: No prior experience required.
* If a High School diploma or GED: One (1) year of on-the-job training as a dental assistant.
